COURSE REGISTRATION

VISIT COUNSELOR
Prospective students should be proactive in speaking with their base school counselors about MTAS Academy courses and their desired selection for the 2026-2027 school year, particularly to avoid scheduling conflicts and to communicate transportation, if applicable. Only counselors can officially register students for Academy classes and will do so via the Academy Registration Portal. If you are unable to meet with your school counselor, or have any questions, email our Academy Counselor, Mr. Donald, at [email protected], and be sure to copy Mr. DiCenzo at [email protected].
REGISTRATION DEADLINES
This school year marks the third consecutive year that MTAS enrollement is at capacity. If trends continue, each section is likely to go on a waitlist. The first step to avoid getting waitlisted is to ensure you've officially registered with your counselor, via the Academy Registration Portal, before the deadline of March 6, 2026. Students who are still deciding are encouraged to proactively register. [If you change your mind, you can always unenroll, but missing the dealine almost guarantees getting waitlisted.]
PLAN A VISIT

Current FCPS high school students are encouraged to arrange a visit with their base school counselors to audit a live MTAS class during their school day.

MTAS CURRICULUM

The curriculum is aimed at those interested in pursuing the performing arts at a higher level or those that have a deep passion for Musical Theatre. All students who are interested in enrolling in the MTAS must audition, including rising freshmen and currently enrolled students. Students will be expected to perform regularly for audiences, both inside and outside of the classroom. The curriculum will respond to the needs and interests of students, naturally developing FCPS' Portrait of a Graduate attributes. Course offerings are listed below.

An exciting component of the curriculum, which is embedded into all courses at the Musical Theatre & Actors Studio, is the focus on college and career readiness. Students pursuing a career in the performing arts are able to rehearse their audition materials, experiencing the process of professional workshopping with feedback aimed to prepare them for the field. Students seeking a degree in the performing arts are supported throughout their entire admissions/audition process and are able to prepare their pre-screen auditions with confidence.
